From Monday to Thursday, I...
...photographed Fiona against cream and mint walls in Homerton, Greg in Le Péché Mignon and on the streets around it and Kay on the part of Regent's Canal at the new Central Saint Martins campus.
...was photographed by Adam and the nice team at The Goodhood Store in their spring/summer buys. I wore clothes and accessories from Antipodium, Opening Ceremony, Surface to Air, Von Sono and YMC.
...learned how to prep an artichoke for poaching from Davo at work. And that something very delicious can be made from cipolla onions, moscatel vinegar and fire.
...learned how to make coffee at work from Jack. While steaming soap-water as a stand-in for milk (very fun exercise), I recalled the last time I was fascinated by soap suds was while reading Roland Barthes' Mythologies. I want to read Travels in China, for many reasons, but I am being too greedy with books at the moment.
...learned that Torakiki likes watching TV when animals are on. We were watching a documentary exploring consciousness of whales and dolphins. I found the prospects disturbing but not in a bad way.
...peeked at Katherine May's textile installations at Tracy Neuls around the corner from where I work. May: "I have been mapping the past lives of these recovered fabrics, where I collected them, who gave them to me, and how they have been cut and used in various project - and what is left-over." I like the premise of the exhibition and the questions it raises. Have to try to get in before closing time to see the works.
...was given a postcard featuring a collage made by pupils in the Insect and Garden Club at Virginia Primary School. I see green pompoms, flowers formed from quills, sophisticated leaf cut-outs, butterflies, beetles, hummingbirds, mosaic birds, sloths, tapirs, parrots, teddy bear faces, unidentifiable rainbow-coloured creatures and more. I see frogs too but I choose not to see them.
...came upon a cherry tree with ripe fruit for picking with Fiona. I wish I can get a ladder there!
...saw Wai and Rebecca from Hong Kong who are in London to work and play for a couple of weeks.
...drank a can of San Pellegrino limonata on the solstice.
...heard Real Estate's Fake Blues while eating in Railroad. Did the song sample Egyptian Reggae or did it sample None Shall Escape the Judgment sampled by Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers for Egyptian Reggae?
