On Monday, I decided I wanted an XS ALS/92 in olive green and so I went on Alpha Industries to have a look. But I thought I'd try to find a more interesting version so I checked on ebay. I found a made in USA version from the 90s in a passable size and colour but I was unsure about the label on the front pocket. Then a few listings down, I saw one from the Vietnam era: unused surplus, the size I was after and the seller is based in the UK. What luck!
Here it is! My 70s nylon ripstop liner with polyester batting Liner, Cold Weather Coat.
The civilian version has pockets and buttons but I like the character of the military original especially the wide underarm ventilation openings, the stray threads on the bar tacks and the way the binding is finished.
